Green waste

Only for the communes of Bussy-Saint-Georges, Chelles, Courtry, Dampmart, Emerainville, Ferrières-en-Brie, Gournay-sur-Marne, Gouvernes, Guermantes, Lagny-sur-Marne, Lognes, Torcy and Vaires-sur-Marne. For all other municipalities, green waste must be taken to a waste collection centre.

Green waste collection is suspended during the winter months. The service resumes in March, April, or May, depending on your local collection schedule.

How to Present Your Green Waste

Branches must not exceed:
– 1.20 m in length
– 10 cm in diameter
– 25 kg in weight
They must be tied in bundles using a natural, biodegradable, uncoloured string.
Plastic, nylon, metal, coloured or bleached string is strictly forbidden. Other green waste (grass clippings, leaves, flowers, etc.) must be placed in:
– Biodegradable paper bags, or
– Containers with 2 handles, in good condition and weighing no more than 25 kg Plastic bags are not allowed. Maximum volume: 1 m³ per collection

For municipalities with door-to-door green waste collection, the municipal by-law defines the exact collection schedule. We recommend placing your green waste:
– The evening before, as late as possible
– Or before 5:00 p.m. on the day of collection

Accepted waste

Green waste from private gardens, including:
Grass clippings
Leaves
Hedge and shrub trimmings
Tree prunings
Flowers and plant bedding waste

Refused waste

The fermentable part of household waste, green waste from public or private spaces collected by municipal technical services or companies. Excludes soil, stones, timber, pallets and manure, tree stumps.

This list is not exhaustive. SIETREM may reclassify any unlisted items into the appropriate waste stream.

Composting is an environmentally responsible alternative to dispose of your green waste and enrich your garden soil.

What About Your Christmas Tree?

> Turn your tree into compost by bringing it to:
A collection point set up by your municipality
Or a waste collection centre

> From January 1st to 31st only, natural Christmas trees under 1.5 meters in height and with a base no wider than 10 cm may be placed in the household waste bin, without a bag.
